ReplyDeleteDoes this apply to Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0? I can't find "Central Administration"
ReplyDeleteYes this applies to WSS 3.0.
ReplyDeletehow about if i using sharepoint foundation? where to configure search and get rid of the error?
ReplyDeleteAFAIK, Sharepoint Foundation is the new name for WSS. I have no experience with 2010 so I wont be able to help, sorry.
ReplyDeleteanyway,
ReplyDeletethanks for your fast response : )
For 2010 it works the same way
ReplyDeleteGo to Central Administration -> Application Management -> Manage Content Databases
Choose your database and on the opening window and at the bottom combobox choose your indexing service named as "Search Server". Verify also that you have selected a "Preferred Server for Timer Jobs", as the indexing for search relies on a timer that runs every XX minutes. To change the frequency of the indexing service go to Central Administration -> System Settings -> Manage services on server -> SharePoint Search and setup "Indexing Schedule" with an appropiate interval. Search will not show results, unless the timer ran for at least one time (the first time).
